Black Swan is a lovely example of these traditional looking Norfolk Gypsy yachts. Designed by Andrew Wolstenholme, she was built in 1995. The Norfolk Gypsy is the perfect ‘all rounder’ boat. Bigger than a day boat, this little yacht will happily take you and your friends and family out on adventures along the Coast and beyond. Norfolk Gypsies have made passage all the way to the Med. She is equally happy exploring the quiet backwaters, harbours and inland waterways. She is light and spacious, and for many owners she is perfect for weekend exploring and camping.
She has the traditional classic lines, very practical and well thought out; and less maintenance of bigger boats. Many design features reflect years of seamanship and skilled practical boatbuilding from the stable of Neil Thompson Boats.
There is much to admire in the use of traditional brass, bronze and galvanised steel fittings, and hardwood for exterior trim, oak and teak for interior trim.
She is a joy to sail. An easy lifting keel enables her to sail in shallow waters and she has proven to be a very seaworthy boat. There are two berths in the compact cabin. There is a porta potti and spirit stove. The surprisingly roomy cockpit benefits from several water tight storage lockers and hard wood slatted seating. And she has a large cockpit tent & a boom cover.
She comes with a very good inventory. There is an extensive range of navigation equipment, including a Raymarine multi-function Chart plotter & depth sounder. She is a very tidy boat, and lying afloat on a pontoon at Emsworth, so easy to view. Black Swan is ready to sail away!

The Norfolk Gypsy is a 20′ gunter rigged yacht with a high peaked gaff. Considerable use of traditional brass, bronze and galvanised steel fittings, hardwood for exterior trim, oak and teak for interior trim and spruce spars combine together with the use of best quality resins, glass fibre and gelcoat (all hand laid) to produce a very low maintenance and a very seaworthy yacht.
To ensure stability, the Norfolk Gypsy combines heavy construction with internal ballast and a firm turn of the bilge. The modest high peaked gaff (gunter) rig has been designed to give excellent performance in both light airs and stronger winds and is easily handled in rough weather.
